WisDOT Nominations for Excellence in Small Structures

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation nominated seven bridge projects for recognition as "Excellence in Small Structures." Cedar Corporation provided structural engineering services for two of the seven projects. For additional information, contact Greg Wolfe, Director of Structural Engineering.

  • Fox River Bridge - Berlin
    Green Lake County, Wisconsin
The project included 0.15 miles future eastbound road alignment with a new 220' 4-span concrete haunched slab bridge crossing the Fox River. The project included approximately 900' of new urban concrete roadway. The new bridge includes decorative lighting and aesthetic Texas Barrier, as well as navigational lights for boat traffic beneath the bridge. Cedar designed the approaches, evaluated vertical options to minimize the flood increase to upstream landowners and prepared R/W plats for the new alignment. WisDOT Central Office designed the bridge.
  • STH 131 - Rockton-Ontario
    Vernon County, Wisconsin

Cedar Corporation completed final plan preparation of six concrete haunched slab structures and two prestressed I-girder structures; several curved, all with aesthetic treatments, including special railings and form lined finish. Structures vary in length from 92 to 365 feet (most 200' to 300'). First phase (4 of 8 bridges) completed in 2 months. Also, final plan preparation of 4 retaining wall structures (1100 feet total length). Wall types include post and panel, sheet piling with concrete form liner fascia, and split block retaining walls.
